On June 16th from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM, join Black Moshannon State Park and the Friends of Black Moshannon for this event. Enjoy a fun-filled day of activities in a friendly non-competitive environment. Children from the ages of 4 to 16 get to choose 4 classes they would like to attend throughout the day. All are welcome to this family-friendly music event held in the Schlow Centre Region Library's Downsbrough Community Room. The Allegria Ensemble was founded in State College in 2006. A talented trio composed of flutist Cathy Herrera, cellist Claudia Koide, and violinist Debbie Trudeau, they have been working together ever since. Each individual has had an extensive career in the music field, and brings great skill and musical knowledge to a repertoire which ranges from early music through contemporary popular music.

3:00 - 4:00 PM Spring Wildflowers - Try to identify the spring wildflowers found at the Park. Discover interesting folklore and medicinal uses for some of these wildflowers. Meet at the Environmental Learning Center. 5:00 - 6:00 PM Star Mill Trail - Enjoy a 2 mile hike on the Star Mill Trail. Hear about some of the history of the area and see some of the remnants of the early 1900’s. Meet at Boat Launch #4 on West Side Road. 8:00 - 9:00 PM Coyote Calls - Let's see if we can get the coyotes in the area to call to us. Find out interesting facts about coyotes on this short hike. Meet at Boat Launch #3 on West Side Road.

The Big Spring Festival takes place on the third weekend in May and celebrates our bountiful supply of water with entertainment, water sports, crafts, fish stocking of Spring Creek and more. Valley Stomp (Bluegrass) will perform from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM and Jay Vonada (Jazz) will play from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Gene Stocker sponsors the fish stocking at 3:30 PM. Fun and food for the whole family!
